New homes for local people go on sale in Newton Abbot
A local developer is delivering on its commitment to ensure the majority of homes on its new site in Newton Abbot will go to local people.
As part of its planning consent to build 40 high-quality homes at Kings Meadow – part of the Langford Bridge scheme in Kingskerswell outside Newton Abbot – Persimmon Homes South West dedicated a majority of the properties within the first eight weeks of sale to customers who already reside in Teignbridge
Properties on the site are now available for local people to reserve their plot and those interested are encouraged to contact the five-star developer’s sales team. The development is zero-carbon ready, meaning homes are not powered by gas but ground-source heat pumps. Homes are also equipped with EV charging points and secure cycle storage.
The site, allocated in the local plan, helps meet Teignbridge District Council’s five-year housing land supply while addressing local housing needs, with eight properties being transferred to a local housing association.
The scheme will also see the delivery of a new bus route to serve the development, and a financial contribution will be made to assist in setting up the additional bus service. It also provides public open space and delivers significant biodiversity enhancements, with bird boxes installed and bat roosts provided adjacent to the site.
The five-star developer has also demonstrated its commitment to Newton Abbot through its Community Champions scheme, seeing thousands of pounds flow to Newton Abbot Museum, Decoy BMX, Dawlish Swimming Club, Newton Abbot College, and Buckland Athletic AFC.
Commenting, Persimmon Homes South West Sales Director, Stacey Harris, said:
“We’re delighted to be releasing our properties at Kings Meadow at Langford Bridge for sale, delivering on Persimmon’s commitment to the local community by reserving the majority of properties for local people in Teignbridge for the first eight weeks.
“Persimmon has a proud record of delivering competitively priced yet high-quality homes – exemplified in our securing a five-star HBF rating for the third consecutive year – proudly catering to first-time buyers and local families, from which Newton Abbot will now benefit.
“For those in Teignbridge interested in securing a new, sustainable home in development that will be flush with features and infrastructure once complete, I urge you to get in touch with us during this period when properties are reserved for you.
“We are proud of the progress we have made so far on-site, the engagement we’ve had with the local community, and the organisations we have supported through our Community Champions scheme in the area, and we move forward in that vein.”
