The site extends to the south of Newton Abbot, adjacent to Buckland Athletic FC and Elis, both of whom Persimmon is engaging with in a positive manner.

The location makes the most of the nearby major A-road and is only a half-hour walk from the centre of the town and the train station. This will be complemented by the active travel, public transport, and link road elements that will be delivered as part of the planning conditions.

The proposals ensure a well-designed transition between the new settlement edge and the countryside beyond, while making a substantial contribution to meeting the local housing need in Newton Abbot and as well as Teignbridge District Council’s five-year housing land supply.

Full development of the site will see the delivery of a new school, commercial local centre, and territory for cirl bunting.
